Jenna and Jonathan had known each other forever through family connections. When Jonathan first asked her out, she wasn’t interested at all. But the more time they spent together the more time they wanted to spend together. Then one day the bride went home to her Mom and said, “I think I’m in love with Jonathan.” The rest was history.
When it came time to propose, Jonathan pulled out all the stops. “We had a lovely romantic evening and as we were dancing and talking he started saying how he loved spending everyday with me and if I would let him he would love to spend every day for the rest of his life with me,” says the bride. “He got down on one knee and asked, ‘Jenna Lee Fawcett will you marry me?’”
Their wedding day was perfect – with one exception: Jonathan forgot his wedding band in his car! The theme for their day was heaven and they chose their colours – gold, white and pink – to match. The ceremony took place at the Doctor’s House in Kleinberg, Ont., and a reception followed at the Grand Hall, right behind the little white chapel where they were married. The highlight for the newlyweds and their 175 guests? A beautiful dove release, symbolic of Jenna’s name, which means dove or little bird. Another favorite wedding detail was their homemade wedding cake, made by the bride’s mother, sister and her friend. Taylor Roades, of Taylor Roades Photography, captured all the beautiful moments.
At the end of the night, the favors – little candy dishes along with a small bag of five almonds – were handed out to all the guests. The tradition was meant to symbolize that life is both bitter and sweet and to represent health, wealth, happiness, children and long life.
